DAVID HAROLD SUMMERFIELD September 26, 1947 - February 17, 2009 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David in Kelowna, BC at the age of 61 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Pearl and Ted and his brother Ken. He will be sadly missed by Gisele - his loving wife of 35 years; his daughter Shannon; his grandchildren, Justin and Sarah; niece Jodi and her daughter Amy. David was born in Winnipeg and attended Daniel Macintyre Collegiate. He received his BA from the University of Winnipeg in 1969. David's education disciplines were business and economics, but his passion was writing. His creative mind led him to build his own firm in the advertising industry during the late 1970s which eventually led him to Regina, SK where he collaborated with his brother Ken. He moved back to Winnipeg and continued in the advertising field. David's savvy and inventive management skills allowed him to completely change careers in 1992 and he opened Facial Fitness in Vancouver, BC. He lived in North Vancouver until the fall of 2007 when he moved to Kelowna, BC. David loved paddling trips and often spoke of his exciting portage adventures in Lake of the Woods, camping trips with his family and sunny vacations in Jamaica. He took a special interest in Buddhist philosophy and actively participated in meditation, teachings and retreats. He was an avid reader and enjoyed creating special culinary works in the kitchen. He also volunteered his time helping others in need. David cherished his life with Gisele on the west coast where he loved breathing the fresh mountain air and taking long hikes in the forest. He will be fondly remembered for his intelligence, unique sense of humour and quick wit. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the CanadInns Polo Park, 1405 St. Matthews Avenue at Empress Street on Friday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made in memory to a charity of your choice.
